Why do colonies work or why does a new form of intercourse have to be established without "hindrance”?

Whan answering this question we have to first find out the meanings of the words that may not make sense to us in the context given. The word intercourse in this context means communication or dealings between individuals, groups and countries. A new form of intercourse or a new way of communication and dealing within a government would be successful in an unhindered colony. Hindrance means interference during a progression of some kind. This colony would have to have been made of people who are unsatisfied with their previous governance or those who have not had a government. If the colony is has been hindered or has had a inference with a government, the colony may not be able to absorb fully, a new ruling. Most citizens of that colony would adhere to the old ways and would never really sway from that mentality. Another reason this would not work in a “hindered” society is that the people of that society would find it hard to make new decisions in a new government. They will always refer to previous instances in order to make choices. Without hindrance there would be innovative ideas and new ways of handling problems and other legislative issues. Within the passage we can also see that advanced individuals can only make these types of changes. When they could not advance their own “hindered” country they became the progressives of the colonies and finally revolutionary figures. e.g. Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson.
