Is the presence of money and material items inevitable based upon one's personality?

It isn’t surprising that when many people look around at the world we live in today, they assume that money and materialism is a natural part of life. One might even consider it impossible to find one person whose life isn’t surrounded by the desire, influence, and drive of money. Though I do believe that the supposed inherent longing for riches is deeply correlated with a person’s personality, I don’t think that the presence of money and material things is inevitable. A person’s personality certainly may be shaped by things related to money – a person is greedy because they want more than they have, a person is jealous because they want what their neighbor has, or a person is humble because they don’t have anything – and yet, it cannot be said that one’s personality ensures materialism. Even in the absence of money, there still exists the natures of greed, jealousy, and humbleness, in cultures where money is non – existent there are still individuals who want to do better and be better than the people around them. In all places, at all times, the same personalities always pop up again and again. Riches and treasures are an entity in itself, and it is only when and if a person makes a conscious choice (through what they have experienced and discovered) to prioritize money does it then become linked to their personality and existence. So, in this sense one would conclude that money and material items tie into the personalities and lives of many people around the world, but are not a direct result of a person’s personality.
