Freud & Lacan relevance to literature

Freud’s and Lacan’s writing are relevant to literature in the sense that they both explain their views on the consciousness and unconsciousness of humans. Freud does this by discussing and interpreting dreams. “And let me remind you once again that the work which transforms the latent dream into the manifest one is called the dream-work.” Freud writes about three different achievements of the dream work in which where he is interprets dreams. Lacan writes more about the psychoanalysis experience and the visualization of images. “We have only to understand the mirror stage as identification,” his interpretation is more on the mirror effect and what is being displayed in front of you.
