Virginia Wolf and Beauvior

After reading both passages one can learn of the importance of a female in the world of men. Women are always put down, they aren't said to be as good as men. Everything they do seems to be of less values than if a man were to do the same. In A Room of One's Own, Virgina Wolf says that "a woman needs her own room and money to write a fiction story." This to me says that she feels that many men don't believe that females can write, therefor the females aren't sponsored with money to be able to begin the book in the first place. She also says that women need a room, this means that since woman have so much to do there is never time to themselves even if in the kitchen they are occupied, living room they are doing something, kids room they are cleaning, even their own bedroom isn't a place where a woman can sit peacefully and work on her writing.
Reading The Second Sex by Simone de Beavoir, you can learn that woman are seen as the "other" sex as if the normal sex is being a man. The passage talks of the hardships woman face all throughout history. Becoming a woman she says one learns rather than being born one. She learns what her gender requires of her by what the society and in particular what man have placed woman's job as. She says that when born a woman doesn't know that she will be counted as less than a man she learns all this throughout her life.
Both passages are similar in the sense that woman are seeing down on and both writers argue about the gender roles we as a society have formed.
