Reading Towards a Feminist Poetics, I learned that feminists critics have created a wide line between woman as readers and women as writers. Woman as readers are seen as listeners of men. The man write all about what they feel women are or what their positions are. Most literature read about women by men have listed women as being, gullible, weak, manipulative. Men writers often write about the beauty of woman and how a woman must always stay at their place of beauty. She is said to be something he can run to and should always be there for him to run to. Those that are women themselves writing, people see their work as giving woman power. In the except The Company of Wolves, the female is written about being so strong, she is head strong, doesn't fear anything. Goes out and enters the jungles and battles whatever comes in front of her. Angela Carter's work can be seen as a feminist work because of the reference made to the young girl and her virginity. in The Company of wolves it says say she is pure and an unbroken egg. Often when feminist critics pick on any sort of reading they talk of a woman and her pureness. Julia Kristeva, brings forth the religious views of Christianity. Again here the talks of virginity come in to play. Women are seen as being clean, if a woman sleeps around she is a whore but a guy can sleep with whoever and however many he wants and still get away with it. Also a lot of man look for the clean girl to take home not someone who has already been used.
