So, I'm having trouble understanding the exact implication of this passage: does it mean that if everyone gets equal pay, a doctor is connected to the factory worker producing a paperclip across the country, because the doctor and the factory worker are paid equally?
Edit: I meant to ask if the doctor is connected to the paperclip, not the worker.

I believe that this section of the passage is stating that communism forces people out of their natural habits. With natural habits being greed self-interest, personal growth, development, and benefits. Communism force people to share equally with each other. This form of government take away individualism and makes everyone equal to each other.

I think that you’re your interpretation is correct that the doctor and the factory worker do get the same pay. But it is also saying that the factory worker and the doctor are connected that they actually have actual contact or a possible connection and that made it possible for the product to be produce.
So, for clarity, the doctor is connected to the paperclip (though she had nothing to do with its production and never met the factory worker) because both share a common ideology and operate within equal economic conditions?
